Running drill ✔️

Running and walking both make use of ‘triple extension’. This is the simultaneous extension at the hip, knee, and ankle. When sequences correctly, it feels like there is a ‘toe to glute connection’, as your glute is producing hip extension at the same time as you are pushing off the ground. This creates a stiffer/springier leg to push from when running, sprinting, or even walking.

This drill is more about timing and building a slow connection:
1️⃣ Medium paced: I am pushing off the toes as I extend the hip. Feeling the glute is key. Driving the other hip into flexion will help promote this. Just go for feel and connection, and try not to lean back through your spine.
2️⃣ Slowpaced holds: This is about connection as well, but also holding the triple extension isometrically. The glute should be on, and the entire leg stiff as you are in the push off position.

1️⃣ Colócate recostado boca arriba 👆 pon una mano en tu pecho y la otra en el estomago. Vamos a asegurarnos que cuando respiremos, se realice únicamente un movimiento en el estómago. Evitando que el pecho se levante.

2️⃣ Ahora colocaremos boca abajo y usaremos una mano 🖐 en nuestra espalda baja. Vamos a respirar inflando el diafragma, mientras que notamos como nuestra espalda se eleva. .

The difference between working out and training: the end goal you want to accomplish and the work you’re willing to put in to get there.

For general health and fitness (and to look good naked) you workout. And guess what? That’s TOTALLY FINE! And in some cases better for longevity 🤷🏼‍♀️ you show up to feel good, move better, and have a healthy balance in your life.

But what changes a workout into a training session is the goal in mind. It’s the mindset behind every lift. It’s the video review, it’s performing every lift with intention of being better than the last, it’s showing up to every session ready to work. It’s failing over and over to get better in the long run. Training is motivated by a goal of competition, setting specific marks to aim for. Training happens outside of the gym in your nutrition and recovery. Training is being intentional with everything from your programming to your bed time. It’s making decisions that lead you closer to your goals. •••
It’s not always easy. Sometimes it means being a little unbalanced 🤭 The best in the world don’t become that way by going through the motions. Training involves a focus that only some have the discipline to develop. It’s a drive that has always impressed me in the athletes that I’ve coached. Honestly, it’s a sacrifice, a willingness to do something hard today to make yourself a better athlete tomorrow. •••
